Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has reassured the government of Brazil of maintaining the existing good relations, especially in various areas of development.<\/p>\n

He explained this at the State House in Zanzibar, where he met with the new Brazilian Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Gustavo Martins Nogueira, who arrived in Zanzibar for self-introduction after taking up the post. \u201cWelcome, and we are happy about our growing good relations,\u201d said Dr Mwinyi.<\/p>\n

Their conversations covered various aspects of development including health, road infrastructure, construction of the Pemba Airport, strengthening trade, tourism and investment opportunities in oil and gas in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

Dr Mwinyi explained to the ambassador that Zanzibar does not have a large area for agriculture; instead it is more focused on the tourism sector and the blue economy.<\/p>\n

He invited investors from Brazil and other countries around the world.to open companies in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

He said that the government of Zanzibar will maintain its cooperation with Brazil especially to benefit from sugar and rice trade in order to reduce the price inflation of the products.<\/p>\n

Speaking about improving healthcare, he told the ambassador that Zanzibar welcomes Brazilian medical doctors to extend their expertise in service provision, especially issues related to reproductive health.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Nogueira informed President Mwinyi that Brazil is committed to work closely with Zanzibar especially in improving maternal health.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Dr Mwinyi also held talks with the new Ambassador of Tanzania to Comoros Mr Said Othman Yakoub, who came to the Zanzibar State House to bid farewell, following his appointment by the President Samia Suluhu Hassan on April 13th, this year.<\/p>\n

Dr Mwinyi said Zanzibar and Comoro have strong relations in education through the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) and Comoro colleges, transportation, health, trade, and media through the Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and Comoros media.<\/p>\n

Dr Mwinyi praised the existing relations in trade and that plans are underway to revive marine transportation between Zanzibar and Comoros.<\/p>\n

He also said Zanzibar is promoting medical tourism to attract people from Comoros and other areas of the World.<\/p>\n

On his part, Ambassador Yakoub thanked Dr Mwinyi for his advice and instructions and promised him to promote Tanzania in Comoros.<\/p>\n
