Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DAR ES SALAAM<\/b>: VODACOM Tanzania Foundation and the Foundation for Civil Society (FCS) yesterday signed an agreement to mitigate the unemployment crisis in the country.<\/p>\n

The two signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth 400m\/- which will be valid for one year and aims at fostering sustainable development and empowering communities within the Civil Society Organisation (CSO).<\/p>\n

Vodacom Foundation\u2019s Director of External Affairs Ms Zuweina Farah said the initiative aims at leveraging technology and innovation for social impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy working together, we can enhance learning outcomes, digital skills, and health infrastructure for the Tanzanians, \u201cshe said.<\/p>\n

FCS\u2019s Executive Director Mr Justine Rutenge said the co-financing with the Foundation has several strategic benefits.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership also marks the beginning of a long-term strategy to bridge the gap between private sector practice and development practice, a critical element in delivering the Tanzania we want,\u201d said Mr Rutenge during the launch of CSO week.<\/p>\n

The CSO Week is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 13 this year in Arusha and the fiveday event will feature a range of activities, including podcast panels with its podcast titled \u2018Azaki Tuongee,\u2019 along with salons and impact spaces.<\/p>\n

Speaking about CSO Week, Mr Rutenge said that it will be a platform that provides a broad opportunity for all groups to engage in discussions, recognizing the importance of inclusivity and in the lead-up to the local government elections and the country\u2019s Vision 2050.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Chairperson of the organising committee for the week Ms Nesia Mahenge said various topics will be discussed and expressed the desire to see all groups included, whether women or people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have various topics after receiving input from stakeholders who want them to focus on national priorities. Since we are here to collaborate with the Government, we will provide this opportunity, including during elections,\u2019 said Ms Mahenge.<\/p>\n
