Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DAR ES SALAAM:<\/b> VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Philip Mpango has urged graduates from Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC) to adhere to ethics, guidelines and job descriptions particularly in embracing confidentiality of information they come across at work places.<\/p>\n

Dr Mpango made the call on Thursday while officiating at the 39th TPSC graduation ceremony held in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

\u201cFailure to keep government\u2019s secrets compromises the execution of various responsibilities, and sometimes leads to hostility between employees and disrupts work performance and good relations at work,\u201d the VP said.<\/p>\n

Dr Mpango urged the graduates to be the agents of change by adhering to ethical principles, laws, procedures and regulations, including refraining from inappropriate behaviours.<\/p>\n

He further said that public service is currently facing many challenges, including embezzlement and misuse of public funds and property, abuse of public office, irresponsibility and moral decay.<\/p>\n

In addition, the VP also urged the employers across the country to follow the Public Service\u2019s Circular Number 5 of 2011 that requires employers in the public service to allocate funds to ensure all new employees receive initial orientation training within three months after reporting to work.<\/p>\n

In a related development, Dr Mpango also said that the Public Service College should seek to provide education that will prepare graduates to employ themselves and be innovative, allowing them to seize opportunities as they come across.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important for the TPSC to ensure that it always provides education that is compatible with market demands, including keeping abreast with the rapidly evolving technology changes,\u201d Dr Mpango insisted.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the VP said that the institution must provide education in accordance with national priorities such as the development of the industrial sector, the blue economy, the digital economy, renewable energy, including mitigating the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n

Dr Mpango said the government intends to significantly strengthen the education system to meet the needs of the country\u2019s long-term development.<\/p>\n

Dr Mpango added that the government will continue to improve the learning and teaching environment of colleges and higher learning institutions, including increasing admissions.<\/p>\n

He said the government will continue improving education environment, including availing opportunities to Tanzanians to further develop their careers.<\/p>\n
