During the visit, the officials also participated in the tree-planting activity.

Mr Mshomba stated that NSSF decided to invest in the project because investment activities are crucial to preserve the value of members’ contributions to enable the Fund pay members’ benefits.

He said the project is expected to begin in May 2025 and will be completed within three years. The benefits expected from investment project include promoting conference tourism, attracting investors and creating direct and indirect jobs. The project is estimated to cost 148.40bn/- at its initial phase.

Mr Mshomba expressed gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her efforts to improve the investment sector in the country and open doors for investors to come and invest in Tanzania.

He said the efforts have enabled NSSF to achieve significant milestones in recent years, including increasing membership size and contributions, which have raised the Fund’s value to 8.5tri/-.

“All these successes stem from the President’s remarkable efforts to enhance the investment sector, as well as the supervision from the Board of Trustees, guidance from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Bank of Tanzania,” said Mr Mshomba.

He noted that during President Samia’s official visit to Mwanza in June 2023, she conducted official visit to NSSF investment project located at Capripoint with the five-star hotel project and advised NSSF to consider investing in other areas, including Dodoma.

He said the current project not only aligns with NSSF’s investment strategy but also fulfils the President’s vision.

Speaking during the event, Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule applauded NSSF for initiating such a significant project, which she said would drive economic growth and tourism in the region, the country’s capital city.

She added that the investment would elevate the Central Zone’s status and the nation as a whole.

The RC emphasised that the government continues to implement various strategies aimed at boosting the economy and tourism.

She said the efforts have started to yield results, citing the launch of “The Royal Tour” film by President Samia as a key factor behind the increased number of tourists. She described NSSF’s project as a catalyst for economic growth.

“I see NSSF taking quick steps to align with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision,” said the RC.

She further highlighted that one of the President’s ambitions is to see Dodoma, as the country’s capital city, hosting international conferences. The NSSF’s commercial property aligns with the sixth phase government’s objective to open up Dodoma and other regions.

Ms Senyamule added that the completion of the hotel and the Msalato Airport will boost economic activities, create opportunities for international conferences, enhance the value chain and generate employment.

She praised NSSF’s achievements, noting that the Fund’s value has reached 8.5tri/-, thanks to an increase in investors, growth in the private sector and overall economic activities.

Earlier, NSSF Project Management Eng Helmes Pantaleo provided an update on the project, saying the 16-storey building would feature three sections: Offices, a hotel and large retail shops.

Eng Pantaleo added that the hotel would have 120 rooms, including one presidential suite and various restaurants.

For More News And Analysis About Tanzania Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Tanzania.
