Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE newly elected Golf Captain of Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC), Mohamed Dewji, has announced the cooption of additional committee members to strengthen the Golf Section.<\/p>\n

In a statement he released, Dewji said the co-option process aligns with Article 15 (a) of the club\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the move aims to enhance and streamline the operations of the Golf Section, ensuring an improved experience for all members.<\/p>\n

He named the newly co-opted committee members, including Lady Captain Sue Van Zyl, Treasurer Jiten Lavingia, Competition Secretary Abid Omari, Handicap Secretary Ali Mamdouhi and Course Superintendent Rustom Samji.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this team in place, the Golf Section Committee looks forward to working closely with all members to foster a vibrant and well-organised golfing environment,\u201d Dewji stated.<\/p>\n

He added that the expertise and dedication of the new committee members would contribute to the smooth running of competitions, course maintenance and overall member satisfaction.<\/p>\n

The committee also encourages all golfers at DGC to actively participate and engage with the section to keep the club a hub for passionate and committed golf enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

The Ladies\u2019 Section at the club has been relatively quiet for some time.<\/p>\n

However, the return of former Lady Captain Van Zyl has reinvigorated the section, earning her congratulations from fellow golfers.<\/p>\n

Among those praising Van Zyl is Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) President Queen Siraki, who said: \u201cCongratulations, Sue! We are happy to have you back and to revive our togetherness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following her appointment, Van Zyl wasted no time in seeking to restoring the section\u2019s former glory.<\/p>\n

She has already organised a weekly ladies\u2019 tournament, the Ladies\u2019 Fiddle, which will tee off next Thursday.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she has pledged to seek sponsorships for the Monthly Mug tournament and has called on female golfers to support these initiatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you so much for your compliments. I can only do this if we all work together as a team. I would like to have ladies\u2019 competitions every Thursday, starting next week, giving me time to arrange trophies for future events,\u201d Van Zyl said.<\/p>\n
