{"id":13441,"date":"2020-08-11T16:59:55","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T16:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/tanzania\/?p=13441"},"modified":"2020-08-11T16:59:55","modified_gmt":"2020-08-11T16:59:55","slug":"race-for-signatures-turns-rough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/sport\/race-for-signatures-turns-rough","title":{"rendered":"RACE FOR SIGNATURES TURNS ROUGH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> ATTACK and counter attack between Simba and Young Africans seem to have dominated whole transfer window that has now peaked in hunting both local and foreign players.<\/p>\n<p>Top of the two-two team muscle showdown includes Bernard Morrison\u2019s switch to Simba while Yanga snatched their rivals\u2019 Chief Executive Offer, Senzo Mazingisa.<\/p>\n<p>Altogether the transfer rumours also linked Simba\u2019s midfield maestro, Clatous Chama\u2019s move to Yanga while other undisclosed sources claimed Yanga are eyeing to grab Congolese Deo Kanda from the Msimbazi Street side.<\/p>\n<p>The rumours punches seemed to deeply hurt the both sides to the extent both sides were forced to react strongly.<\/p>\n<p>Yanga took the Morrison case to the football governing body (TFF) while Simba openly warned their rivals to leave alone their players.<\/p>\n<p>Simba have warned their traditional rivals Young Africans to forget about signing their key midfielder Clatous Chama ahead of the new season.<\/p>\n<p>Simba SC have come out to clarify their midfielder Clatous Chama is not for sale at any price.<\/p>\n<p>The statement by the club comes just a day after rumours went round in Tanzania that Yanga are planning to sign the Zambian midfielder, so as to \u2018level the scores\u2019 after Simba signed their own Bernard Morrison on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Simba unveiled the Ghanaian player after he agreed to pen a two-year contract and leave the Jangwani Street-based giants.<\/p>\n<p>Simba Information Officer Haji Manara has now told Yanga that Chama, who was recently crowned the MVP of the 2019-20 Mainland Premier League and midfielder of the year is contracted at the club until July 2021, and will not be sold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen rumours going round that Chama is leaving Simba for Yanga, I want to state it clearly we are not aware of such rumours and that Chama is a player contracted to Simba,\u201d Manara said on his official social media pages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimba is not ready to sell Chama, because the coach has already plans for him in the new season, Yanga should stop crying and focus elsewhere, they can sign players from other teams, I know they want to sign him as revenge on us signing Morrison but it will not happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simba are now close to signing defender Joash Onyango after his club Gor Mahia confirmed they had released him on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The Kenyan champions confirmed in a statement: \u201cGor Mahia player Onyango is close to securing a lucrative move to Tanzanian giants Simba as the club struggles to keep their star players due to the financial challenges they are facing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnyango was owed a lot of money by Gor Mahia and put in a demand letter to them that went unanswered. He then served a notice as required and started negotiations with Simba who have always been interested in his services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimba have moved with speed to secure his services and he is expected in Dar es Salaam to sign the deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoash will thus join former teammates Francis Kahata and Meddie Kagere who played an integral part for the Tanzanian champions in the just-concluded season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Onyango joined K&#8217;Ogalo from Western Stima in the 2017 season and has gone on to help them win back-to-back KPL titles.<\/p>\n<p>He was part of the team that qualified for the Caf Confederation Cup quarter-finals in the 2018\/19 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AfricaPress-Tanzania: ATTACK and counter attack between Simba and Young Africans seem to have dominated whole transfer window that has now peaked in hunting both local and foreign players.
