Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>SIHA District Commissioner, Dr Christopher Timbuka, has urged Tanzanians to pray for the nation so that the forthcoming General Election is conducted peacefully, allowing for continued implementation of development activities in the country.<\/p>\n

He made the plea during a ceremony to present honorary awards to leaders who provided good cooperation to the council over the past five years, enabling it to perform effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso pray for our President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan because she has done good work in making improvements in all sectors, including health, education, water and road infrastructure,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

At the event, which coincided with the dissolution of the council to pave way for this year\u2019s General Election for the President, Members of Parliament and Councillors expected to be held in October, Dr Timbuka thanked the outgoing councillors for the good development work they had accomplished throughout the five years.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event on behalf of the Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner (RC) Mr Nurdin Babu, Kilimanjaro Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Mr Kiseo Nzowa, called on the council\u2019s executives to continue managing the council\u2019s activities diligently after the dissolution of the councillors, while adhering to all legal principles.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the council completes its term, District Executive Director (DED), ensure that you and your team effectively manage the implementation of all that was endorsed by the outgoing councillors without distorting anything, because everything they endorsed was for the benefit of the people and the nation and not for their own (councillors) benefit,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

For his part, outgoing chairman of the Council, Mr Duncan Urassa, said the awards were presented by the outgoing councillors in recognition of several officials who provided great cooperation to the council and the council\u2019s management staff, enabling significant achievements.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the great achievements we achieved as a council was the increase in the council\u2019s revenue collections from 1.2bn\/- in 2020 to over 3.2bn\/- this financial year; this is a great achievement,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He continued to say that the achievements, despite involving many people through their commitments, were greatly aided by the cooperation the council received from the Kilimanjaro RC\u2019s office and the Siha District Commissioner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
