\nAfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> KOREA\u00a0\u00a0 Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH)\u00a0\u00a0 recently donated medical equipment to Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH)\u00a0 Mloganzila\u00a0 to enhance capacity building\u00a0 of health personnel.<\/p>\n

MNH\u00a0 Executive\u00a0 Director\u00a0 Prof\u00a0 Lawrence\u00a0 Museru said that\u00a0 the\u00a0 equipment would\u00a0\u00a0 be used\u00a0 by\u00a0 local\u00a0 experts\u00a0 to perform\u00a0 surgical procedures\u00a0 in the Ear, Nose and Throat\u00a0 (ENT) Department.<\/p>\n

He added that other equipment would be used by biomedical engineers and technicians to repair tools.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the handing over of the equipment, Prof Museru said since its establishment in 2017, MNH Mloganzila has been cooperating with various institutions and groups from South Korea.<\/p>\n

“We have been cooperating with KOFIH since 2017 in areas of\u00a0 expertise… the\u00a0 foundation has been\u00a0 dispatching\u00a0 medical personnel in different specialties\u00a0 to work at Mloganzila… currently\u00a0 we are working with neurosurgeons and\u00a0 gynecologists who have\u00a0 been dispatched\u00a0\u00a0 to the country through the\u00a0 Foundation,” Prof Museru said.<\/p>\n

He noted that currently, the national hospital\u00a0 Mloganzila\u00a0\u00a0 is cooperating with\u00a0 KOFIH\u00a0 in areas of\u00a0 capacity building\u00a0 which include\u00a0 training\u00a0 of health\u00a0 personnel\u00a0 in area of medical equipment .<\/p>\n

He\u00a0 noted that the national hospital\u00a0\u00a0 has\u00a0 been\u00a0 facing a challenge in maintenance\u00a0 of\u00a0 its equipment\u00a0 but the support\u00a0 will enable\u00a0 the hospital\u00a0 to repair\u00a0 them.<\/p>\n

Prof Museru said that the donated equipment will improve efficiency in the ENT department since the experts will have all the required equipment for treatment of the ailments.<\/p>\n

He said that the equipment\u00a0 worth\u00a0 USD 144,080 (equivalent to 335m\/- ) include\u00a0\u00a0 surgical\u00a0 equipment\u00a0 among others, tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy,\u00a0 basic kit\u00a0 for ENT\u00a0 surgery, mastoidectomy kits\u00a0 and\u00a0 tracheostomy\u00a0 kits.<\/p>\n

Other\u00a0 equipment\u00a0 to be used\u00a0 to repair\u00a0 medical\u00a0 tools\u00a0 include\u00a0 vital signs\u00a0 patient simulator, electrical safety\u00a0 analyzer,\u00a0\u00a0 radiation\u00a0 inspector,\u00a0 electro\u00a0 surgery\u00a0 analyzer,\u00a0 portable gas flow\u00a0 analyzer\u00a0 and personal working tool\u00a0 kit.<\/p>\n

Prof Museru commended KOFIH\u00a0\u00a0 for its support which will help the national hospital to continue providing quality services to the patients.<\/p>\n

For her part, KOFIH Tanzania Deputy Country Representative Ms Kim Jungyoon said that her organization\u00a0\u00a0 was very excited to hand over the equipment to the national hospital.<\/p>\n

“We hope this donation will improve healthcare services at the hospital and to the citizens in general,” she said.<\/p>\n

Ms Jungyoon noted that since\u00a0 Tanzania has a long term cooperation\u00a0 with the Republic of South Korea,\u00a0 they hope\u00a0 that\u00a0 the country will continue\u00a0 to\u00a0 support\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tanzanian\u00a0\u00a0 government in various\u00a0\u00a0 areas,\u00a0\u00a0 including\u00a0 healthcare\u00a0 sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
