AIR Tanzania Company Limited has signed a contract with Swissport International Tanzania limited for the latter to provide ground handling services.<\/p>\n
Under the contract, Swissport will provide services at two airports – Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) in Kilimanjaro Region.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Thursday evening, ATCL\u2019s Head of Planning, Mr Kitula Yango, expressed their expectations that Swissport would deliver as per their signed agreements.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe contract has started with immediate effect, so we are looking forward to getting better services from them, ATCL believes in meeting expectations of our customers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Since 2016, the national airline carrier was working with NAS-Dar Airco whose contract with ATCL expired on December 31, 2019.<\/p>\n
For his part, Swissport Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Mrisho Yassin gave an assurance that they would provide first class services to their new client, Air Tanzania.<\/p>\n
He said, they would ensure safety of passengers and the luggage throughout, as per the requirements of the signed contract.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy to have won the tender of serving the national airline carrier; I am assuring good services to our clients in line with meeting their expectations to the maximum possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In June 2018, ATCL announced a plan to establish a firm to service its cargo and provide ground handling services.<\/p>\n
ATCL\u2019s Managing Director Mr Ladslaus Matindi said the ground handing firm is expected to be ready by 2022.<\/p>\n
So far, the national airline carrier flies to twelve destinations in the Tanzanian side as Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, Iringa, Mpanda, Mwanza, Kigoma, Bukoba, Dodoma, Mtwara and Tabora.<\/p>\n
It also has international flights to Mumbai (India), Bujumbura (Burundi), Hahaya (Comoros), Harare (Zimbabwe), Lusaka (Zambia) and Entebe in Uganda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
