Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>SAUTI ya Umma (SAU) Presidential candidate, Majalio Kyara, has vowed that if elected in the upcoming General Election his government will prioritise organic agriculture as a cornerstone for Tanzania\u2019s economic growth and national development.<\/p>\n

Addressing campaign rallies in Kilimanjaro Region over the weekend, Mr Kyara underscored the growing global demand for organic food products, saying Tanzania is well positioned to benefit from this market due to its fertile land and diverse agricultural base.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgricultural organic products, including coffee, tea, fruits and vegetables\u2014which Tanzania produces in abundance\u2014are increasingly sought after globally. This offers a major opportunity to boost our economy, create employment and increase income for farmers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the SAUled government would implement comprehensive strategies to encourage farmers to adopt organic farming techniques.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future of agriculture lies in organic produce. Our government will prioritise initiatives that increase productivity, ensure environmental sustainability and generate higher revenues for both farmers and the nation,\u201d Mr Kyara said.<\/p>\n

The SAU manifesto for 2025\u20132030 is anchored on three pillars: Promotion of organic farming, industrial development and technological advancement.<\/p>\n

Mr Kyara explained that these pillars are designed to accelerate Tanzania\u2019s socio-economic progress while ensuring equitable growth across regions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile organic farming will provide the foundation for our economic strategy, industrialisation will ensure value addition to agricultural produce. We plan to establish processing factories in every region based on the crops they produce. This will increase the value of produce, boost farmers\u2019 incomes, create employment and raise government revenue through taxes,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n

He further highlighted the critical role of technology in driving national development.<\/p>\n

\u201cSAU-led government will invest in innovation, digital infrastructure and skills development to make our country competitive in the global technological landscape. Technology will support agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors for sustainable growth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On his part, Moshi Urban parliamentary aspirant on the SAU ticket, Mr Isaack Kamasho, addressed public safety concerns, stressing that road infrastructure must be upgraded.<\/p>\n

He called for the expansion of the Arusha\u2013Dar es Salaam highway via Tanga into a fourlane road to prevent frequent accidents that claim lives annually.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring festive seasons, traffic accidents increase due to congestion and high vehicle numbers. Expanding our highways is essential to save lives, improve transport efficiency and support economic activities,\u201d Mr Kamasho said.<\/p>\n

Mr Kyara and Mr Kamasho both reiterated that their plans for agriculture, industry and technology are interlinked,<\/p>\n
