AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> NATIONAL swimming coach, Alexander Mwaipasi lauded athletes competed in the High Performance Training (HPT) at Shaaban Robert pool in Dar es Salaam over the weekend for improving their personal best times.<\/p>\n

The inaugural competition that featured more than 100 swimmers drew contestants from the various clubs of the Tanzania Mainland.<\/p>\n

Speaking yesterday, Mwaipasi said the swimmers did well despite staying without training for more than three months due to Covid-19 scare.<\/p>\n

Mwaipasi said surprisingly, even the swimmers who were underperforming prior to the outbreak of the coronavirus, have been gained and improved their personal best times.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see a bright future of the game in the country, I have been impressed by the development of the swimmers so far, we need to continue training them in order to sharpen their personal best times\u00a0 and later search for the Olympic Games and World Championships qualifications time,\u201d said Mwaipasi.<\/p>\n

The swimmers competed in freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke and the Individual Medley (IM) disciplines.<\/p>\n

The youngest swimmer of the event was a seven-year old Audrey Makwaia who improved her time in all four events she took part.<\/p>\n

Other swimmers who also improve their best times were Mohammeduwais Abdullatif\u00a0 who improved his time in two categories, Ethan Alimanya (3 events), Gianni Alimanya (3 events), Aryan Bhatt (4 events), Khairaan Chunara (2 events) and Teah Chunara\u00a0 (1 event).<\/p>\n

Also in the list are Mahek Desai (3 events), Franco Du Plessis (3 events), Mohamed Fakii (3 events), Muskan Gaikwad (1 event), Sam Hardeman (1 event), Sydney Hardeman (2 events), Alberto Itatiro (2 events), Peter Itatiro (1 event), Nathan Kagoro (2 events), George Kalomoh (1 event) and Matthew Lubuva, who improved his time in two events.<\/p>\n

The list also includes Dennis Mhini who improved her time in one category, Mihaly Romeo Mwaipasi (2 events), Baraka Mwaipungu (3 events), Ian Nanyaro (2 events), Viva Pujari (3 events), Aravind Raghavendran (2 events), Ria Save (2 events), Nawal Shebe (1 event) and Prisha Shetty who also improved time in\u00a0 one event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
