The Society of Champions for Community Development and Well-being in Tanzania (SMAUJATA) has called on citizens in Shinyanga to actively oppose violence and report incidents to authorities. This appeal was made during the launch of a mutual support group aimed at fostering community safety and solidarity among members.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>The Shinyanga District chapter of the Society of Champions for Community Development and Well-being in Tanzania (SMAUJATA) has urged citizens to take a leading role in opposing acts of violence in society, emphasizing the importance of promptly reporting such incidents to relevant authorities so that perpetrators can be held legally accountable.<\/p>\n

This appeal was made yesterday during the inauguration of a community-based mutual support group called \u201cShinyanga Chapa ya Ng\u2019ombe,\u201d headquartered in Ihapa, Old Shinyanga Ward. Speaking at the event, Hasna Maige, Secretary of SMAUJATA for Shinyanga District and also the patron of the group, stated that citizens must actively resist violent acts by reporting them, thereby helping to maintain peace within the community.<\/p>\n

She emphasized that members of this group should never be involved in violent behavior themselves; instead, they should act as ambassadors against violence and ensure community safety. \u201cI strongly urge the public not to turn a blind eye to acts of violence. If you witness someone\u2014especially a child\u2014being subjected to violence, intervene and immediately report it to the relevant authorities, so swift action can be taken before harm escalates,\u201d Maige said.<\/p>\n

Moreover, she called on group members to live in love, solidarity, and peace, and to refrain from introducing political or ideological issues into the group\u2019s activities. The group\u2019s chairperson, Juma Bugohe, noted that the group currently has 83 members and urged them to work together cooperatively while adhering to the group\u2019s guidelines and constitution.<\/p>\n

Several members expressed that they joined the group specifically to support one another through both hardships and joys, underscoring that unity is strength and the foundation of progress. During the inauguration, members of \u201cShinyanga Chapa ya Ng\u2019ombe\u201d also reviewed their draft constitution\u2014a key step toward establishing the group\u2019s operational framework and future direction.<\/p>\n

SMAUJATA, a local organization, focuses on community development and well-being in Tanzania. The group aims to empower citizens to take action against violence and promote peace within their communities.
