\nAfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> THE police in Kagera Region are investigating the deaths of three people believed to have eaten poisoned food, while 49 others were admitted to Rulenge Mission Hospital in Ngara District.<\/p>\n

Kagera Regional Police Commander (RPC) Revocatus Malimi said investigations were underway to establish the cause that led to the deaths.<\/p>\n

However, nobody has been held in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n

Medical Officer-in-Charge of Rulenge Mission Hospital Sister Maria Goretti told the \u2018Daily News\u2019 by phone that two people died before reaching the hospital, while another died after arriving at the health facility, adding that 49 patients admitted to hospital were recuperating well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have sent food samples to the chief government chemist for laboratory examination. Some of the patients will be discharged today,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Rulenge Village Chairman Francis Peter noted that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening after attending a marriage ceremony.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
