The Tanzania Film Board has called on local filmmakers to leverage their productions to promote the country’s tourist attractions. Executive Secretary Dr. Gervas Kasiga emphasized the importance of film in enhancing tourism, environmental conservation, and economic growth during an awards ceremony for students involved in the Guardians of the Peak project, which highlights Mount Kilimanjaro.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>TANZANIAN filmmakers have been urged to ensure that their productions serve as a platform to promote Tanzania\u2019s tourist attractions, a move expected to increase the number of international visitors.<\/p>\n

The call was made by the Executive Secretary of the Tanzania Film Board, Dr Gervas Kasiga, during an awards ceremony for students who excelled in the Guardians of the Peak University Challenge.<\/p>\n

Dr Kasiga said such initiatives play a significant role not only in advancing the film industry, but also in environmental conservation, tourism promotion, and strengthening the national economy.<\/p>\n

He commended Ram Films Company for its efforts in bringing together youth, environmental conservation, and tourism through film, noting that the Guardians of the Peak project is a strong example of how the film industry can contribute to national development across multiple sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project clearly demonstrates how film can support environmental conservation, promote tourism, empower youth, encourage the use of clean energy, and strengthen trade and investment cooperation between Tanzania and other countries such as China,\u201d said Dr Kasiga.<\/p>\n

He added that the Tanzanian government recognizes the vital role of the film sector in promoting the country internationally, particularly by showcasing its natural attractions, cultural heritage and unique landscapes.<\/p>\n

As a result, the government has continued to improve the investment environment in the sector by simplifying film production permit procedures and encouraging collaboration between local and international producers.<\/p>\n

Through the Tanzania Film Board, in collaboration with the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), efforts are ongoing to promote Tanzania as one of the world\u2019s top filming destinations.<\/p>\n

Dr Kasiga said the main goal is to ensure that films produced locally also serve as a platform to showcase tourist attractions and attract more visitors from across the globe.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the Guardians of the Peak project, he noted that it highlights the beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro and demonstrates how film can be used to market Tanzania and draw tourists from different countries.<\/p>\n

He also expressed satisfaction with the strong participation of university students in the project, describing it as an important opportunity for young people to learn, innovate, and become ambassadors for environmental conservation and tourism.<\/p>\n

Dr Kasiga further commended various stakeholders supporting the initiative, including Zara Tanzania Adventures, Meticulous General Insurance, King Jada Hotel, COSOTA, Digi Farm, Skyward Airline, Red Gold Tanzania, Titan Watches Tanzania, and EACLC.<\/p>\n

He called on the private sector and other stakeholders to continue supporting similar initiatives, emphasizing their importance in national development.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, we can make Guardians of the Peak a major international platform that will position Tanzania uniquely on the global stage through film,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tanzania’s film industry has been gaining recognition for its potential to contribute to national development. The government has been actively working to improve the investment climate for filmmakers, simplifying production processes and encouraging partnerships with international entities. This initiative aims to showcase Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, positioning the country as a prime filming destination while promoting tourism and environmental awareness through cinematic storytelling.<\/p>\n
