Mussa Zungu, Speaker of the National Assembly, honored the late Isimani MP William Lukuvi during a funeral ceremony in Dodoma. Zungu emphasized Lukuvi’s commitment to public service and his significant impact on Tanzanian politics. Former Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango also praised Lukuvi’s mentorship and constructive advice during challenging times in Parliament.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>SPEAKER of the National Assembly, Mussa Zungu, has described the death of Minister of State in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office (Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities) and Isimani MP William Lukuvi as a major blow not only to his family, but also to the Parliament, government, and Tanzanians at large.<\/p>\n

Zungu made the remarks today during the funeral ceremony held at the National Assembly grounds in Dodoma, where leaders gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran politician.<\/p>\n

\u201cI personally worked with Lukuvi for a long time. In short, I can admit that the late leader carried broad vision, high wisdom, and a genuine heart for serving his nation in public service,\u201d the Speaker said.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he said that Lukuvi stood out as a committed statesman whose dedication to government service was unwavering throughout his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can confidently say the lateLukuvi was truly a man of government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Speaking earlier, the Former Vice President Dr Philip Mpango said the late veteran politician played a crucial mentorship role during his early days in Parliament as a young politician and Minister for Finance.<\/p>\n

Dr Mpango said Lukuvi was a key figure in guiding him through government procedures inside Parliament, making his work significantly easier.<\/p>\n

Elaborating, the former VP recalled how Lukuvi supported him during challenging economic times and did not shy away from offering candid advice.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother thing I remember is when the economy was not doing well. One day I met Lukuvi and he told me, \u2018my younger brother, since independence we have never had a Finance Minister as stingy as you.\u2019 I have never forgotten that moment, he made my work easier,\u201d Dr Mpango said.<\/p>\n

He added that despite the humorous remark, Lukuvi\u2019s intention was constructive and aimed at improving performance and service delivery.<\/p>\n

Dr Mpango further described the late Lukuvi as a kind and principled leader who consistently advised colleagues wisely to ensure government responsibilities were executed effectively for the benefit of the nation.<\/p>\n

William Lukuvi served as the Minister of State in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office and was a prominent figure in Tanzanian politics. His contributions spanned various aspects of governance, particularly in policy and parliamentary coordination. Lukuvi was known for his dedication to public service and his ability to mentor younger politicians, influencing many in their political careers. His passing is seen as a significant loss to the Tanzanian political landscape, reflecting the deep connections he fostered throughout his career.<\/p>\n
