Officials emphasize the importance of balancing traditional and digital learning tools to meet modern educational needs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>THE Tanzanian government has distributed ICT equipment worth over 769m\/- to 19 primary and secondary schools across nine regions in the country as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthen the education sector.<\/p>\n<p>The regions are, Dodoma, Iringa, Ruvuma, Arusha, Geita, Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, Mtwara and South Unguja.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the handover ceremony in Dodoma region today,March 30, 2026, the Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Wanu Hafidh Ameir noted that the equipment is expected to improve students\u2019 understanding by giving them opportunities to learn through practical experience and visual learning, especially in science and technology subjects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor teachers, these technologies will facilitate the use of innovative teaching methods, improve content preparation and make it easier to track students\u2019 progress through digital systems,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Carolyne Nombo, said the government will continue to take firm measures to improve the education sector in line with 21st-century needs.<\/p>\n<p>She said the efforts align with the Education Policy and the National Development Vision 2050, both of which aim to develop a skilled human resource base that meets the demands of the modern world.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, she said that among the ongoing measures is strengthening the use of digital technology in teaching and learning, alongside the continued implementation of the national ICT in education strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a country, we will strive to ensure a balance where students gain skills in both traditional tools, such as pen and paper, as well as ICT equipment. Therefore, we will not be left behind,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>Tanzania has been focusing on improving its education sector through various initiatives, particularly in the realm of technology integration. The government&#8217;s commitment to enhancing ICT in education aligns with its broader goals outlined in the National Development Vision 2050, which seeks to equip students with necessary skills for the 21st century.
