The Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) has announced the integration of the TANCIS-TRA and RIMS-TMDA systems to enhance the efficiency of electronic imports and exports. This merger aims to simplify permit applications and improve monitoring of goods entering and leaving the country, effective from May 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>THE Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) said that the TANCIS-TRA and RIMS-TMDA systems have been integrated to increase efficiency in importing and exporting goods into the country electronically.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the Director General of TMDA, Dr Adam Fimbo, the main objective of the integration is to simplify the permit application processes by having a single place to enter information, as well as improve monitoring and control activities of applications to import and export goods into the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are hereby officially informed that, from May 1, 2026, all applications that were going through TMDA-RIMS and TRA-Customs for declaration will be processed directly in the TANCIS system.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cTo avoid unnecessary arguments and simplify the services of obtaining permits, you are reminded to consider that the accuracy of information on products managed by TMDA (including product and property registration numbers) and all stakeholders will be required to collaborate closely with the Customs Agency to verify the accuracy of technical information and required documents.\u201d It explained the statement to the Public.<\/p>\n

In addition, TMDA has asked you to note that the announcement applies to importers of large customs loads, and not importers for personal use.<\/p>\n

Tanzania has been working to modernize its customs and import\/export processes to facilitate trade and improve efficiency. The integration of TANCIS-TRA and RIMS-TMDA systems is part of a broader initiative to streamline operations and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for businesses. By consolidating these systems, the government aims to provide a more user-friendly experience for importers and exporters, ensuring better compliance and oversight in trade activities. This move reflects Tanzania’s commitment to enhancing its economic framework and supporting local businesses in a competitive global market.<\/p>\n
