Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi met with Ecobank executives to reinforce financial partnerships aimed at driving economic growth. The discussions centered on collaboration in key sectors such as port development and infrastructure, with a focus on attracting investment and enhancing financial inclusion in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi held high-level talks with senior executives from Ecobank, reaffirming the government\u2019s commitment to strengthening financial partnerships to drive economic growth.<\/p>\n

The meeting brought together the bank\u2019s top leadership, including Group Executive for Corporate and Investment Banking based at Ecobank\u2019s headquarters in Togo, Michael Larbie and Managing Director of Ecobank Tanzania, Charles Asiedu. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration between the financial institution and the Government of Zanzibar in key development sectors.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, President Mwinyi commended Ecobank for its continued cooperation and support in advancing Zanzibar\u2019s economic agenda. He acknowledged the bank\u2019s role in facilitating financial inclusion and supporting business growth across the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cPartnership with international and regional financial institutions,\u201d the President emphasised, noting that such collaborations are essential in unlocking Zanzibar\u2019s full economic potential.<\/p>\n

He assured the Ecobank delegation of the government\u2019s readiness to deepen cooperation in areas that will bring tangible benefits to the people.<\/p>\n

Highlighting priority areas for investment, Dr Mwinyi pointed to opportunities in port development, road infrastructure and the blue economy, sectors seen as critical to Zanzibar\u2019s long-term growth strategy.<\/p>\n

He said the government is actively working to create a conducive environment that attracts investors and supports sustainable development.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Group Executive, Corporate & Investment Banking at Ecobank, Mr Michael Larbie reaffirmed Ecobank\u2019s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Zanzibar, pledging continued support in financing and facilitating trade and investment across the African continent.<\/p>\n

He noted that the bank\u2019s Pan-African Partnership strategy is designed to enhance crossborder business and unlock new opportunities for growth.<\/p>\n

Mr Larbie added that Ecobank is keen to explore more avenues of collaboration with Zanzibar, particularly in supporting key infrastructure projects and empowering businesses through innovative financial solutions<\/p>\n

Zanzibar has been working to enhance its economic landscape through strategic partnerships with financial institutions. The region’s government has recognized the importance of international collaboration in unlocking its economic potential.
