The government aims to build a trusted public service system through these IT<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>TANZANIA is advancing major reforms in public service delivery through increased investment in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), with a good number of government systems now integrated to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability.<\/p>\n<p>Presenting the budget estimates for the President\u2019s Office \u2013 Public Service Management and Good Governance in the Parliament in Dodoma earlier today, April 17, 2026, Minister of State Ridhiwani Kikwete said the government has significantly improved access to public services through digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>According to the minister, a total of 252 government systems were integrated into a unified network between July 2025 and March 2026, enabling citizens to access services more quickly, conveniently, and without the need to physically visit government offices.<\/p>\n<p>He said the reforms have reduced bureaucracy, cut costs, and saved time for citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he said the digital improvements have also enhanced transparency and strengthened accountability across public institutions, contributing to more efficient service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on governance and ethics, Kikwete said the government, through the Public Leaders Ethics Secretariat, has intensified efforts to promote integrity among public officials where 85 percent of leaders have submitted their declarations of assets and liabilities, reflecting improved accountability and public trust in state institutions.<\/p>\n<p>He further revealed that 34,334 citizens have been educated on ethics, a move aimed at strengthening a culture of integrity and responsibility within society.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he also highlighted ongoing efforts to build the capacity of public servants, noting that competent officials are key to delivering quality services. A total of 4,867 leaders signed Integrity Commitment Forms, with 69 percent being men and 31 percent women.<\/p>\n<p>Kikwete reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to building a transparent, accountable, and trusted public service system.<\/p>\n<p>Tanzania has been focusing on improving public service delivery through digital transformation in recent years. The integration of government systems is part of a broader strategy to enhance efficiency and accountability in public institutions. This initiative aligns with global trends where many countries are leveraging technology to streamline government operations and improve citizen engagement.
