Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>TANZANIA has significantly strengthened its public service delivery systems through large-scale recruitment, payroll reforms, and improved human resource management aimed at boosting efficiency across government institutions.<\/p>\n

Presenting the budget for the President\u2019s Office (Public Service Management and Good Governance) for the 2026\/2027 financial year to lawmakers in Dodoma on Friday, Minister of State Ridhiwani Kikwete said the government has issued 43,866 employment permits across various sectors between July 2025 and March 2026.<\/p>\n

He said the government also approved replacement hires, transfers, unpaid leave arrangements, and more than 7,000 leadership positions, measures that have enhanced operational efficiency and improved public service delivery.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he said that during the same period, the government verified and paid salary arrears and other claims for more than 14,600 public servants worth over 22bn\/-, a move aimed at boosting motivation and productivity within the civil service.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ongoing improvements in human resource management systems have strengthened workforce planning and increased overall service delivery performance across government institutions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the minister revealed that about 91,126 successful job applicants were assigned duty stations during the reporting period, while recruitment for 12,722 remaining positions is still ongoing.<\/p>\n

Additionally, 41,102 candidates have been retained in the national database after passing interviews, comprising 21,899 men and 19,203 women across various professional categories.<\/p>\n

He said six preliminary recruitment examinations were conducted after receiving 845,042 job applications, with 490,514 male and 354,528 female applicants participating.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted that 9,836 candidates underwent practical interviews, including 6,928 men and 2,908 women.<\/p>\n

Tanzania’s public service sector has undergone significant reforms in recent years, focusing on improving efficiency and accountability. The government has prioritized human resource management to ensure better service delivery to citizens. These reforms are part of a broader strategy to modernize public institutions and enhance the overall effectiveness of government operations, addressing challenges such as workforce shortages and outdated practices.
