Jubilee Insurance is enhancing environmental sustainability in schools through initiatives focused on tree planting and environmental education. The program aims to instill a culture of environmental stewardship among students while improving learning environments. With ongoing support from Jubilee Life and Health Insurance, schools are equipped with tools and resources to promote conservation and<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>THE Jubilee Life Insurance and Jubilee Health Insurance have intensified efforts to promote environmental conservation in schools as part of their commitment to advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through corporate social initiatives.<\/p>\n

The initiative, which focuses on tree planting and environmental education, has so far seen hundreds of tree seedlings planted in selected schools, aimed at improving learning environments while instilling a culture of environmental stewardship among students.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Monday in Dar es Salaam during an event to hand over environmental cleaning tools to Mzimuni and Madenge Primary schools, Jubilee Life Insurance Chief Financial Officer, Mr Hillary Godson, said the programme is part of an ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) drive targeting both education and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a continuous initiative. Two years ago, we planted trees at Mzimuni Primary School and our main goal is to give back to the community while advancing the sustainable development agenda. When we talk about sustainable development, the environment is a key pillar,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the initiative is designed to ensure students learn through practical engagement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that students learn by doing. When we teach them about sustainable development and environmental conservation, they also get the opportunity to practise it,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Mr Godson said the programme has already been implemented in several schools, including Mzimuni and Mikumi in Kinondoni District and Madenge in Temeke, as well as in Manyara Region and Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

Echoing similar sentiments, Jubilee Health Insurance Chief Financial Officer, Mr Nickson Motta, called on other institutions to support environmental conservation efforts, particularly in schools and health facilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnvironmental conservation is the responsibility of every stakeholder. We urge other institutions to join us in promoting environmental care in schools and hospitals because protecting the environment is also protecting health,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Jubilee Insurance Human Resources Manager, Mr Bryan Russell, said employees have actively volunteered in the initiative, with the company allocating an annual budget to support such programmes.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur staff are committed to these CSR activities, and we set aside funds every year to support them. I also encourage workers, especially during May Day, to prioritise environmental conservation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

At Mzimuni Primary School, Head Teacher Ms Eligiva Kimaro commended Jubilee Insurance for supporting efforts to improve the school environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are grateful for their support in making our environment more conducive for learning. They have provided both shade and fruit tree seedlings, as well as equipment for environmental cleanliness, including slashers, hoes and rakes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She added that the school has been working to establish a small forest, providing a resting area for pupils and enhancing environmental awareness.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe initiative has motivated students to love and care for the environment. Each student has been assigned the responsibility of taking care of at least one tree,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Madenge Primary School Head Teacher, Ms Hadija Hussein, said the small forest established at the school has not only improved the environment but also enhanced learning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have an environmental club that has helped students understand the importance of tree planting and conservation. Such initiatives benefit both the current and future generations,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She called on stakeholders to continue supporting environmental conservation efforts in schools, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing responsible citizens.<\/p>\n

Jubilee Insurance has been actively involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development. Their focus on environmental conservation in schools aligns with global efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By engaging students in practical activities like tree planting, the company fosters a sense of responsibility towards the environment.<\/p>\n
