{"id":151552,"date":"2026-04-27T15:51:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T15:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/all-news\/mwinyi-pledges-youth-wellbeing-improvement"},"modified":"2026-04-27T16:40:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T16:40:38","slug":"mwinyi-pledges-youth-wellbeing-improvement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/all-news\/mwinyi-pledges-youth-wellbeing-improvement","title":{"rendered":"Mwinyi Pledges Youth Wellbeing Improvement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Tanzania. <\/strong> <\/span>ZANZIBAR President Hussein Mwinyi has pledged to intensify efforts to improve the wellbeing of young people through the implementation of election pledges made during the 2025 general election campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Mwinyi said the government is currently preparing to roll out key commitments aimed at addressing challenges facing youth, recognising their central role in national development and economic transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the CCM Youth training camp in Tunguu, Dombwe area in Unguja South Region, during a youth conference marking the 62nd anniversary of the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, the President stressed the importance of placing youth issues at the centre of national planning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the size and importance of this group, both governments have established special ministries dedicated to addressing the challenges facing young people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Mwinyi explained that existing government strategies focus on expanding employment opportunities, increasing youth participation in leadership and reforming education curricula to equip young people with skills relevant to the labour market.<\/p>\n<p>He said youth wellbeing remains a key pillar of government policy, adding that targeted interventions are being designed to respond to real challenges affecting young people across the country, including unemployment, skills gaps and limited access to economic opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the President urged young people to safeguard peace and stability, calling on them to remain patriotic and responsible as the government continues implementing development programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYouth must continue to protect and preserve the peace and unity of our nation, while the government on both sides of the Union works to resolve the challenges you face,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Mwinyi also commended the CCM Youth Wing (UVCCM) for its efforts in educating young people on national values, including the importance and benefits of the Union.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Tanzania<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Tanzania.
