AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> WITH opening of air space in many countries, Tanzania being one of them after a lull in coronavirus, the issue of security must not be compromised with.<\/p>\n

That was noted in a statement recently issued by the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications, while announcing the opening of the country\u2019s air space to allow commercial flights to land and take off in Tanzania.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe issue of security should be taken seriously after the resumption and opening up following the pandemic, there should be routine and thorough checkup,\u201d read the statement in part.<\/p>\n

It further noted that the aviation and security industry stakeholders, despite many countries putting much weight to upgrade airport security and border controls including passengers\u2019 screening, should also focus on health concerns of the staff in the line of duty.<\/p>\n

The statement cited a recent case at Senegal\u2019s Blaise Diagne International airport last month, where a suspected terrorist was arrested, a sign that for the skies to be safe, thorough checks must be initiated on the ground.<\/p>\n

Explaining the arrest of the terrorist, the statement showed alert to all aviation and airports\u2019 security systems, whether one is in Kenya, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, South Africa and Tanzania to be on the watch out.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll countries must link in the security alert and follow the rules to keep the skies safe and as well combat all illegal acts\u2026there is a need for coordinated efforts to ensure there is security and safety of passengers and their property.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is an urgent need for more advanced information systems as part of airport border security controls, which rake into account the latest technological advancement in the aviation industry.
