\nAfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> THE Judiciary is implementing various construction and rehabilitation projects of Court buildings in the country with the aim of improving infrastructure in order to create enabling environments for timely delivery of justice services.<\/p>\n

Dodoma Capital City is one of several regions in the country where major court construction projects are underway, according to a statement issued by the Judiciary\u2019s Directorate of Information and Communications.<\/p>\n

The statement indicates that for the financial year 2020\/2021, the Judiciary of Tanzania is implementing a total of five construction projects in the capital city of Dodoma.<\/p>\n

Such projects include the construction of a Judicial Headquarters building, an Integrated Justice Centre, the Chemba and Bahi District Courts as well as the Kibaigwa Primary Court.<\/p>\n

It is stated that the move to improve infrastructure of court buildings in the country also aims at moving judicial services closer to the people to enable Tanzanians access such services quickly, especially to reduce distance and costs in pursuing justice.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Retired Chief Justice, Mr Mohamed Othman, has appealed to legal assistance for the judges to use their professionalism in assisting judicial officers to conduct election petitions effectively and refrain from political bias.<\/p>\n

The ex-Chief Justice made such appeal recently while opening a training course for 39 legal assistants for Justices of the Court of Appeal and the High Court of Tanzania at the Institute of Judicial Administration Lushoto on how best to conduct election proceedings.<\/p>\n

According to the statements, Mr Chande urged the participants to pay close attention to the training session so that they could use the same in carrying out their responsibilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a legal assistant to the judges it is important to use your professionalism well and focus on competence in the conduction of the election proceedings and refrain from political fanaticism,\u201d emphasized Justice Chande.<\/p>\n

He, in addition urged the participants to observe ethics, seriousness and confidence when writing judgments, thus they are required to remain abreast to cope with the pace of changes considering the fact that they are of a great help to judges in carrying out judicial duties.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the former chief justice commended the leadership of the Tanzania Judiciary and the Institute in general for being at the forefront of successfully training capacity building for various Judicial Officers in handling election matters.<\/p>\n

To date the Judiciary in collaboration with the Institute has already conducted training on how to handle election petitions to various judicial officers, including Justices of the Court of Appeal, Judges of the High Court, Deputy Registrars and Resident Magistrates in Charge to enable them to handle the cases ably.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
