{"id":17004,"date":"2020-10-19T19:07:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T19:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/tanzania\/?p=17004"},"modified":"2020-10-19T19:07:00","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T19:07:00","slug":"vodacom-donates-medical-equipment-to-katavi-health-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/economy\/vodacom-donates-medical-equipment-to-katavi-health-centre","title":{"rendered":"VODACOM DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO KATAVI HEALTH CENTRE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> MORE than 12,000 women are set to benefit from maternal heath equipment worth 49.3m\/- donated by Vodacom Tanzania Foundation to Inyonga B Health Centre in Mlele District, Katavi Region.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Vodacom Tanzania Director of Corporate affairs Rosalynn Mworia said the donation was part of Vodacom\u2019s corporate social responsibility in the community, aimed at alleviating challenges in the health sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of Vodacom Tanzania Foundation, please, accept our donation of five baby warmers, three baby monitors, three oxygen concentrators, three foot- operated suction machines, three penguin sucker devices for new born and three neonatal stethoscopes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to supporting the health sector in the country to reduce infant mortality and achieve sustainable development goals on good health and wellbeing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She added that this year Vodacom Tanzania was marking 20 years of service and making an impact in communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 20 years, we are proud of playing an active role as a corporate empowering Tanzanians on a daily basis, by enabling them to stay connected and transact with confidence through custom made financial services platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past 20 years investment and services have not only connected people, businesses and bridged the divide in the country, but also made a significant contribution to development plans and the ICT policy,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Acting Mlele District Commissioner, Salehe Muhando thanked Vodacom for the donation and said that it would support mother and child health in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe this contribution will reduce the number of child and maternal mortality and help achieve our national development goals in general in improving the health sector, especially the health of mothers and children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thank Vodacom Foundation for their response and cooperation which resulted in today&#8217;s event.
