{"id":17300,"date":"2020-10-23T19:00:55","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T19:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/tanzania\/?p=17300"},"modified":"2020-10-23T19:00:55","modified_gmt":"2020-10-23T19:00:55","slug":"tasaf-disburses-over-50bn-to-kagera-beneficiaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/community\/tasaf-disburses-over-50bn-to-kagera-beneficiaries","title":{"rendered":"TASAF DISBURSES OVER 50BN\/- TO KAGERA BENEFICIARIES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Author: MEDDY MULISA in Bukoba<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> AT least 53.721bn\/- has been disbursed to 68,915 poor households in Kagera Region through the Tanzania Social Action Fund (Tasaf) Phase III.<\/p>\n<p>Kagera Regional Tasaf Coordinator Efrazi Mkama told \u2018africa-press\u2019 that about 70,346 poor households were initially targeted, but 1,431 dropped out due to various reasons, including deaths and lack of qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the past five years (2015-2020) the government set aside 54,322,167,800\/-, but only 53,721,340,750\/- was issued to beneficiaries, while 600,826,050\/- was returned to the government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mkama explained that Tasaf beneficiaries used the funds to improve their livelihoods through the construction of decent houses, while others initiated income generating projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least 13,621 houses have been constructed and 25,956 households have been running income projects, including cattle (386), goats (41,401), pigs (10,849) and chicken and 95,062 iron sheets have been bought.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further said about 37,759 households out of 50,179 had joined the Community Health Fund (CHF), implying 75.2 per cent coverage.<\/p>\n<p>About 1,069 poor households in Ngara District were paid 1,204,695,720\/- for participating in a public work programme (PWP), including tree planting, road construction and water distribution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author: MEDDY MULISA in Bukoba AfricaPress-Tanzania: AT least 53.721bn\/- has been disbursed to 68,915 poor households in Kagera Region through the Tanzania Social Action Fund (Tasaf) Phase III.
