AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> THE Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has opened the third admission window for the 2020\/21 Academic Year for first degree programmes, inviting prospective undergraduate students to fully exploit the opportunity.<\/p>\n

The Commission has already admitted a total of 80,792 applicants, equivalent to 81.6 per cent in the first and second admission windows.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner\u2019s Executive Secretary, Prof Charles Kihampa said in Dar es Salaam that the third window was opened yesterday and will remain open until next Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the completion of the two admission phases (I and II), we received requests for an extension of admission time from some applicants who failed to make it in previous phases due to various reasons,\u201d Prof Kihampa said.<\/p>\n

According to Prof Kihampa, the Tanzania Higher Learning Institutions Students\u2019 Organization-TAHLISO and some universities which still have chances for some programmes also made the request, urging to fully exploit the opportunity provided in the third window.<\/p>\n

According to him, 98,935 students applied in the just accomplished two admission phases to 74 universities. About 41,921 of the total applicants (80,792), equivalent to 51.8 percent had a problem related with double admissions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of now, about 29,051 applicants out of those who had a problem related with double admission (41,921), equivalent to 69.3 per cent have already been confirmed their admission at one university,\u201d he further explained.<\/p>\n

The Commission boss stressed that TCU and Universities will continue sending a special message to those who experienced double admissions, directing them how to confirm to one university of their choices, in this third admission window.<\/p>\n

The confirmation message will be sent through their mobile phones or email addresses they used during applications.<\/p>\n

Those who will not receive messages in time (yesterday) should get into universities\u2019 admission systems and request the message.\u00a0The confirmation message should contain a special secret number.<\/p>\n

TCU reiterated that the confirmation should be done through the same address that was used during the first applications, and the list of double admitted students in the first and second admission phases is on the Commission\u2019s www. tcu.go.tz website.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll undergraduate applicants are reminded that all issues related to admission or confirmation should be submitted directly to the respective universities. For those who face challenges in confirmation should consult the universities as they (universities) have been already directed to give help, basing on the set guidelines and procedures,\u201d noted Prof Kihampa.<\/p>\n

The Commission also urged the universities to clearly show the available courses so as to make it easy for the applicants.<\/p>\n
