AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> CRDB Bank has launched \u2018Tupo Mtaani Kwako\u2019 (we are on your street) campaign to encourage the use of banking services and connect more clients to use the lender’s services.<\/p>\n

The campaign has come at the right time as the bank\u2019s penetration is about 20 per cent.<\/p>\n

However, mobile banking has pushed services penetration to over 70 per cent.<\/p>\n

CRDB Bank Chief Commercial Officer, Dr Joseph Witts, said the \u2018Tupo Mtaani Kwako\u2019 campaign would help educate clients about various opportunities offered by bank, provide education and financial advice, expose clients to CRDB Bank services, including account opening.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a patriotic bank we have a responsibility to ensure we help improve the lives of Tanzanians through our products and services. Through this campaign we are going to fulfill this responsibility by visiting every street throughout Tanzania to ensure Tanzanians benefit from the opportunities offered by their bank,\u201d Dr Witts said during the launch of the campaign at the weekend.<\/p>\n

CRDB Bank, listed on Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), saw its share last week appreciate to 180\/- a unit.<\/p>\n

The bank posted high performance in a year to September after its profit jumped 31 per cent to 120bn\/- despite Covid-19 challenges.<\/p>\n

Dr Witts said CRDB Bank planned to use its team of experienced banking staff to visit clients wherever they were, be it in office, market, store, bus stand and provide services.<\/p>\n

“We will use vehicles and also put gazebos to reach clients on the streets,” Dr Witts said while urging clients to utilise the campaign to open an account and understand their bank better.<\/p>\n

Dr Witts explained that the campaign also aimed at encouraging the use of alternative service delivery methods, including CRDB Bank agencies, SimBanking, Internet Banking and TemboCard.<\/p>\n

Through these methods a client can conduct his or her banking transactions wherever he or she feels at ease, security and convenient.<\/p>\n

“So far we have more than 17,000 CRDB Bank agencies across the country that provide services. So, when we say \u2018we are on your street\u2019, we also mean bringing banking services closer to clients through these agencies,” stressed Dr Witts.<\/p>\n

CRDB Bank Eastern Zonal Manager Badru Idd urged Tanzanians to utilise the opportunity and promised that the bank was well-prepared to ensure it reached more people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are starting in this Eastern Zone, which includes Dar es Salaam, Coast and Zanzibar and later spread across the country. People of all walks of life should not hesitate to ask questions when they meet our staff on the streets,” said Mr Idd.<\/p>\n

During the campaign the bank will also continue educating clients on the importance of savings through a \u2018Jipe Tano\u2019 (give yourself five) campaign, which was launched last month.<\/p>\n

The ‘Jipe Tano’ campaign offers clients an opportunity to win a prize of 5,000\/- each time they deposit money in their account.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have set aside 100m\/- for awards and there are 240 winners every day. Just continue saving with our bank and stand a chance to win,” Mr Idd said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
