The banks in East Africa are KCB in Kenya, Stanbic in Uganda and I&amp;M in Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the award, CRDB Bank Managing Director and Group CEO, Abdulmajid Nsekela noted that the award is another validation that the Bank is on track in its customer-centric approach to financial services delivery.<\/p>\n<p>The young CEO also thanked CRDB Bank\u2019s customers for their input that drives the Bank\u2019s innovation and commitment to world-class customer support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great honour to accept Global Finance\u2019s Best Bank in Tanzania Award, we dedicate this award to our customers \u2014 they continue to motivate us every day to be innovative in our products and responsive in our services,\u201d said Nsekela.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur customers are at the heart of Bank\u2019s innovation, our products consider the diverse needs of our customers and are primarily consumer-driven,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, CRDB Bank made a deliberate decision to transform its operations with a focus on improving operational efficiency and providing excellent customer experience.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank also invested in the digital technologies to deliver a more robust service to its customers.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank\u2019s digital platforms such as CRDB Wakala, SimBanking and Internet banking plays an important role in increasing financial inclusion especially in disadvantaged areas, serving more than 3 million customers across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank is also keen on SMEs financing considering an integral role the sector plays in terms of production, employment generation, and contribution to exports. In 2019, the Bank designed a product for micro-entrepreneurs best-known as \u2018Machinga\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The product is a mobile-based loan aimed at addressing capital challenges among this group, who rely on selling their wares to make a living. The long-term plan is to build their capacity to be able to grow their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Tanzania, there is a lot of business that people would say are not formal. We are trying to get them on-board. Aside from giving them the money, there are many advantages to being part of the banking system,\u201d hinted Nsekela.<\/p>\n<p>As a home-grown brand in Tanzania, the Bank continues to play an active role in ensuring the achievement of a robust infrastructural capacity because it will have an impact on the economy in the long term.
