AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> SPEAKER Job Ndugai will on Friday grace the opening ceremony of the CRDB Taifa Cup Basketball tournament in Dodoma.<\/p>\n

The tournament starts today, but the official opening has been pushed to tomorrow to allow the speaker attend the opening as the same day; President John Magufuli will officially open the 12th Parliament.<\/p>\n

The President of Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) Phares Magesa said on Wednesday\u00a0that the official opening of the national level basketball showdown will be held in the evening after the end of the Bunge session.<\/p>\n

A total of 36 men and women\u2019s teams will battle it out for the national top honours.<\/p>\n

The opening matches will see hosts Dodoma Women team taking on Arusha while Dodoma\u2019s Men team will lock horns with Morogoro.<\/p>\n

CRDB bank is the title sponsor of the tournament while the co-sponsors include Sanlam and Mayfair Insurance.<\/p>\n

The draw for the teams has the following teams in the groups. Group A teams are Ilala, Kilimanjaro, Tabora, Rukwa and Shinyanga and Katavi.<\/p>\n

Group B has Mbeya, Mwanza, Manyara, Kigoma, Coast and Kinondoni. Group C has Songwe, Dodoma, Morogoro, CRDB Youth (special team), Tanga and Mtwara.<\/p>\n

Group D has Temeke, Arusha, Iringa, Singida, Pemba and Unguja. The women discipline has attracted the following teams; Group A has Ilala, Iringa, Morogoro and Coast.<\/p>\n

Group B has Temeke, Dodoma, Arusha and Singida while group C has Mbeya, Unguja, CRDB Youth (special invited team) and Tanga.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
