Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) Richard Kwitega made an appeal at the weekend during training organised by Osha for employers in the region.<\/p>\n<p>He was representing the regional commissioner at the event. Training is part of Osha\u2019s campaign called \u2018vision zero\u2019, which aimed at eradicating occupational accidents.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kwitega further said employees also had a role to play when it came to occupational safety and health. \u201cOccupational safety involves the employer, an employee and the government and if cooperation between them is heightened, accidents and diseases will be reduced,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n<p>He told workers to develop a culture of protecting themselves while at work because they plaid a crucial role in protecting themselves against diseases and accidents.<\/p>\n<p>The administrative secretary further noted that the employers should put in place sophisticated systems in their workplace that would guarantee the safety of their workers.<\/p>\n<p>Osha Director of Safety and Health, Alex Ngata, who spoke on behalf of Osha Chief Executive Officer, Khadija Mwenda said the \u2018vision zero\u2019 was a global campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn employee is a fundamental pillar at any business or production and Osha ensures that their safety and health is guaranteed to protect the country\u2019s labour force,\u201d Mr Ngata stated.<\/p>\n<p>For\u00a0their part, some participants admitted that the campaign would help them put in place better systems for protecting the workers against accidents in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf an employer abides by what the \u2018vision zero\u2019 requires and follows directives from Osha, there is a high chance of increasing production in the workplace and increase national revenue,\u201d said Mr Emmanuel Mvamila, a representative from TPC Limited.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AfricaPress-Tanzania: ARUSHA regional authorities have appealed to employers to cooperate with the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (Osha) in implementing occupational safety guidelines.
