\nAfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> THE ruling party CCM councilors has been elected Mr Sima Costantine as the new mayor of Mwanza city council.<\/p>\n

Mr Sima, who is also Mhandu Ward Councilor in Nyamagana District, garnered 17 votes out of 26 casted votes.<\/p>\n

He was followed by the Nyamagana Ward Councilor, Mr Bhiku Kotecha who got 7 votes. The Nyamagana District CCM Chairperson, Mr Zebedayo Athman announced Mr Costantine as the new City Mayor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe voting exercise involved 26 members. The councilors also elected the Deputy Mayor,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the first in the three rounds, Isamilo Councilor, Mr Charles Nyamasiriri and Pamba Ward Councilor, Mr Rodrick Ngoye scored similar votes.<\/p>\n

The move called for the fourth round on which Mr Ngoye emerged the winner with 14 votes against his competitor, who scored 12 votes.<\/p>\n

He explained further that the voting process involved 18 elected Ward Councilors, six (Councilors) from special seats and two Members of Parliament, who made a total of 26 voters.<\/p>\n

The Chairperson affirmed that the rest of the contestants conceded defeat and promised to cooperate with the new elected Mayor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe process followed all required procedures and all contestants have agreed and pledged to support the new Mayor,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The newly elected Mayor promised to effectively supervise all on-going development projects in the city and establish new ones for the betterment of all Tanzanians and the nation at large.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Mayor vowed to work hard towards solving the existing challenges in the area while fully supporting the mayor in implementing various projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
