\nAfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> PREVENTION and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) in Rukwa Region has arraigned two employees of the Sumbawanga District Council for eight counts of forgery and embezzlement of 5,200,000\/-.<\/p>\n

The accused persons are facing charges of forgery of receipts during the 2020 general election.<\/p>\n

According to a charge sheet, the accused forged the receipts to show that the said amount of money was spent hiring conference halls for conducting election seminars.<\/p>\n

It is stated that the accused used the 5.2m\/- for personal gain instead of executing government-related projects.<\/p>\n

The two accused persons, who appeared before the Rukwa Regional Principal Resident Magistrate In-Charge, Mr Mahira Saanane Kasonde, are Hepimacus John \u2013 an accountant as the first accused, and Ms Bahati Mgimwa an Election Officer, being the second accused.<\/p>\n

It was established that each of the accused is facing nine charges.<\/p>\n

Both pleaded \u2018Not Guilty\u2019 and were remanded after they failed to meet bail conditions, including signing a 5m\/- bond each. The case was adjourned to December 22, this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
