Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>CLEARING and Forwarding agents at Namanga border have been directed to strictly observe laws governing handling of domestic and industrial chemicals when dealing with such cargos at the Tanzania-Kenya border.<\/p>\n

The Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA) for Northern Zone told the agents at a seminar meant to create more awareness to them over the country\u2019s laws and regulations on handling domestic and industrial chemicals.<\/p>\n

The Manager of the GCLA for Northern zone, Mr Christopher Anyango informed the clearing agents at the border that since they are key stakeholders in handling imports and exports, they should adhere to the laws in order to guarantee health and safety of Tanzanians because chemicals can cause injuries or death if mishandled.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognise you as important to us in implementing these laws and regulations because you do works for importers and exporters of chemicals who are registered with the GCLA,\u201d Mr Anyango stated.<\/p>\n

He said many chemical dealers registered with the GCLA deploy clearing agents for their imports and exports, a situation which makes it necessary for them to be aware of law requirements hence they can efficiently conduct their activities of handling chemicalrelated imports and exports.<\/p>\n

The GCLA, being the main controller of chemicals, decided to educate the clearing and forwarding agents in order to make them aware of the laws.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe by doing this you will conduct your activities successfully along with protecting people\u2019s health and environment,\u201d he told the agents at the seminar held in Arusha region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
