Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>MINISTER for Works and Transport, Eng Leonard Chamuriho has urged heads of departments\/institutions in the ministry to encourage regular skills sharpening training to workers to match with the rapid technological changes.<\/p>\n

He made the call recently when officiating a-two-day meeting for Workers\u2019 Council of the transport sector.<\/p>\n

The meeting gathered participants from various public institutions to discuss, among others, the implementation report of the 2019\/20 budget, as well as how best to implement the 2020\/21 budget.<\/p>\n

He said that matching with technological changes was part of improving the sector\u2019s accountability, based on its (sector) immense contribution towards national economic growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should also adhere to ethics and good governance. Fight all possible development barriers in your working areas, including any type of corruption. A public servant must stick on professionalism and not personal interests,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Council\u2019s Chairperson, Mr Gabriel Migire said that ethics and good governance was among the topics to be presented and discussed during the meeting, as part of service improvements in the sector.<\/p>\n

He said that all council members were aware of the transport sector\u2019s contribution to stimulate the growth of other economic sectors, for implementation and strengthening Tanzania\u2019s industrialisation concept and economic growth.<\/p>\n

Mr Migire insisted that transport was among the important sectors when implementation of major development projects comes in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this five-year development plan (FYDP III), which is to take off in 2021\/22-2025\/26, along with implementation of the 2020 Chama Cha Mapinduzi Manifesto, the sector will continue to implement various flagship projects, including the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway, as well as improving the Dar es Salaam Port and Air Tanzania Company Limited,\u201d said the Chairperson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
