Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE Minister for Industry and Trade Geoffrey Mwambe has promised to address challenges facing the Fair Competition Tribunal (FCT) as a way of promoting fair competition that is important for business growth.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, the Minister highlighted the challenges as financial distress, adding that they hamper smooth running of fair competition among the business players.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have learnt that public institutions do not give out contributions in full at the right time according to legal requirement, I will work on this issue by cooperating with their respective ministries,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mr Mwambe further said public institutions like Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) and Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) among others are bounded by law to make contribution in running the FCT.<\/p>\n

Elaborating, he noted that he will spearhead a review of the Fair and Competition Act no 12 of 2003 so that it accommodates other areas of trade.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe private sector is growing rapidly and FCT should cover wide scope to promote justice for healthy business competition in the country,\u201d he said In a related development, the minister directed the FCT secretariat to accommodate business communities and general public and brush them on how to lodge complaints and address disputes.<\/p>\n

On his part, FCT registrar Mr. Renatus Rutatinisibwa said that the public is welcomed to visit his office for familiarization with their activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
