AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> MINISTER of State in the President\u2019s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government) Selemani Jafo has expressed satisfaction with the construction progress of the 320 meters long road leading to Uhuru Hospital in Chamwino District, Dodoma Region.<\/p>\n

The road which is constructed at tarmac level is under the Tanzania Rural Roads Agency (TARURA).<\/p>\n

Currently, the agency receives a ration of 30 percent against 70 percent given to the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) disbursed by the Road Fund Board (RFB).<\/p>\n

Jafo was speaking shortly after inspecting different construction projects within the country\u2019s political capital\u2014Dodoma.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have constructed the Uhuru hospital, but the road to its entrance was in poor condition. I am impressed with the construction progress,\u201d said the minister.<\/p>\n

As of September last year, construction of the hospital reached 87 per cent after the government fulfilled its commitment of injecting 2.3bn\/- into the project.<\/p>\n

Minister Jafo urged the project contractor–M\/S Nyanza Co. Ltd to make sure the project is completed as per signed agreement.<\/p>\n

TARURA Manager in Chamwino District, Eng Nelson Maganga said construction of the road at tarmac level has now reached 85 percent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect to complete construction of the road on March 14th 2021 as agreed in the contract,\u201d said Eng Maganga noting the project cost is 511m\/-.<\/p>\n

In another development, Minister Jafo inspected construction of roads at the Mtumba government city. The roads measuring 51.2 kilometers are constructed by China Heinan International Cooperation Co. Ltd (CHICO).<\/p>\n

He gave CHICO until July 30th 2021 to complete all the roads.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not impressed with the construction progress; you were supposed to have reached 69 percent by this month, but you have reached 63 percent. I was expecting you to have completed the job by 70 percent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

TARURA Director for Urban Roads, Eng Mohamed Mkwata linked the project delay with the ongoing rainfall across the country as well as cement shortage which hit the country in the last months of 2020.<\/p>\n

He however said the contractor has procured some extra equipment to ensure the job is completed in accordance with the reached agreement.<\/p>\n

In October 2018, the government announced the construction of 112.3 kilometers after receiving 494b\/-loan from African Development Bank (AfDB).<\/p>\n

Dodoma City Council Executive Director, Godwin Kunambi was quoted saying Dodoma city is growing fast, hence the need for railway transport.<\/p>\n
