AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> THE Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance (CHRAGG) has called on members of the community not to close eyes on all incidents that degrade the dignity of women and to report them to relevant authorities.<\/p>\n

The call was made by chairperson of the Commission retired Judge Mathew Mwaimu in his press statement to mark the World Day for Women on March 8 2021.<\/p>\n

Judge Mwaimu said it was better for the community to continue mobilising themselves to abandon \u00a0misleading concepts by taking a woman as a weak human being incapable of bringing any positive results in leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough various efforts in such mobilization in the country, there have been women participation in leadership issues in political parties, the government, Parliament and the Judiciary as well as other leadership positions in the society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said apart from various government efforts in screaming gender based violence, still there are challenges facing women who vie for leadership positions, including restrictive traditional customs.<\/p>\n

He said since the government has ratified various international protocols and resolutions that call for equal rights of all people in the participation in leadership positions in respective countries, the Commission supports these government efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Commission, in collaboration with various stakeholders, has been mobilizing women to come forward to vie for various leadership positions from village to national level and empowering them on how to legally fight for these rights whenever they feel they are violated,\u201d Mwaimu explained.<\/p>\n

Judge Mwaimu said through this year theme \u201cWomen in leadership: Motive to Attain World Equality\u2019 the Commission is mobilizing the whole society to continue taking robust steps to ensure the participation of women in leadership increases to attain equality in the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
