AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> \u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bTransparency is widely supposed to make institutions and their office holders both more trustworthy and more trusted. Transparency improves trustworthiness. Officials in the country\u2019s communication institutions with offices in the mainland and Isles have been called upon to be-<\/p>\n

– transparent to the people by explaining in depth about various laws, procedures and guidelines in order to remove any misunderstandings over services provided by the institutions in both sides of the Union \u2013 namely the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) and Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC).<\/p>\n

The call was made by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Technology Dr Zainab Chaula in a meeting on Monday that brought together permanent secretaries of the Mainland Ministry of Communication and Technology and the Zanzibar Ministry of Works, Communication and Transport<\/p>\n

Dr Chaula said the institutions are required to fully understand various laws, procedures and guidelines governing service delivery, including educating the public to abide by the laws without coercion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had eight issues, and after going through them, five remained which basically are issues to for enforcing our laws, regulations and procedures as well as to increase our understanding thereof because the main aim for their establishment was to ensure they are adhered to,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Dr Chaula said the meeting was well conducted and the experts were well mobilized when communicating whereby various challenges tabled have been adopted and improved for submission at the ministerial meetings of the two ministries for decision.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Zanzibar Permanent Secretary of the Ministry od Works, Communications and Transport Amour Bakari said the meeting was the continuation of joint meetings among communication institutions from the both sides of the Union which earlier begun at officials\u2019 levels.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s meeting is of Permanent Secretaries level and all that was discussed will be submitted to the ministerial meeting to be held tomorrow, Thursday, March 11 here in Zanzibar, he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
