AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> VICE President Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday appealed to Tanzanians to cement the country\u2019s unity at this moment, not to be frightened by rumor mongering, stressing that the country was safe.<\/p>\n

The VP issued this appeal at Msata in Tanga Region, at a stone laying ceremony for the proposed 5.3bn\/- headquarters of Handeni Rural District, then proceeded to Michungwani area where she inspected an orange processing plant.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not strange for a person to fall sick. It\u2019s quite normal for a person\u2019s body to be indisposed and contract the flu or develop a fever\u2026 This is the time for Tanzanians to be united through prayers,\u201d said Samia, without elaborating on the matter.<\/p>\n

She urged Tanzanians to continue working hard, strengthen unity and uphold the country\u2019s stability, noting further that there were a lot of rumours circulating inside and outside the country, \u201cbut this should not unsettle Tanzanians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Tanzanians, we must work together, be united and build our nation. This is high time, we, Tanzanians could concentrate on hard work. Most of the rumours you hear don\u2019t originate in Tanzania\u2026they come from outside the country. I ask you to ignore them. If it\u2019s about prayers, pray, but all in all, we should remain united and take Tanzania forward. We\u2019re safe,\u201d the VP declared.<\/p>\n

VP Samia is in Tanga Region for a four-day tour, where she remarked that \u201cPresident John Magufuli has also sent me here to deliver greetings to you. He has emphasized hard work for all people; he wants all of us to focus on conducting activities which bring development to our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

She assured the public that the promises made by the ruling party in last year\u2019s General Election will be implemented to stimulate development in every part of the country, urging farmers in the region to utilize fully opportunities available in the sector so as to improve their livelihoods.<\/p>\n

\u201cDistrict council authorities should continue setting aside enough land to attract investors from inside and outside the country to establish investment projects for the country\u2019s development,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

On power blues, Samia said that the government is working to ensure all areas in the country are connected to national grid power supply to support smooth development of investment projects.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Regional Commissioner Martine Shigella said they had received 7bn\/- from the central government to construct three buildings for Handeni Urban, Handeni Rural and Bumbuli District headquarters.<\/p>\n

VP Samia\u2019s remarks came four days after Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa asked Tanzanians to remain calm, saying the Head of State was healthy and faring well with his daily activities.<\/p>\n

The premier dismissed claims in various media outlets that President Magufuli was ailing and had been flown to a neighbouring country for specialized treatment.<\/p>\n

The premier said he had spoken with the president by phone, assuring Tanzanians that he is well.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Chadema Secretary General John Mnyika addressed a press conference on Thursday saying the opposition party was concerned on the health and whereabouts of the president, who was last seen in public on February 27.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
