AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> YANGA’s management has said that their side’s pursuit of Vodacom Premier League’s top honour is still on, despite posting less impressive results in recent fixtures.<\/p>\n

In the first round of the tournament, Yanga started well as they played a total of 19 league fixtures without losing a single game.<\/p>\n

They then opted to change the team’s technical bench, parting ways with head coach Zlatko Krmpotic.<\/p>\n

Krmpotic catapulted Yanga to victory in four matches and draw in one, which came in the clash against Tanzania Prisons at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

Krmpotic was dismissed for what was described as poor results.<\/p>\n

He was replaced by Cedric Kaze who led Yanga to 18 league matches, winning 10 games, posting draw in seven outings and loss in one.<\/p>\n

The outcome led to his dismissal on March 7 due to what was described as the team’s poor performance.<\/p>\n

In Yanga’s fixture under Kaze’s tutelage, the squad posted 1-1 draw with Polisi Tanzania, prompting Yanga bosses to fire him.<\/p>\n

They are placed first in the domestic top flight with 50 points, they though are under a lot of pressure from their age-old rivals Simba, who are placed second with 46 points.<\/p>\n

Mshindo Msolla, Yanga’s Chairman, said: ”The target of winning the Vodacom Premier League is stagnant, failing to get results in previous matches does not mean that we will fail to achieve our goals.”<\/p>\n

He disclosed: “We decided to offload the technical bench in order to solve the problem of poor results so the work is still going on and the goals are not changing.”<\/p>\n

Vivier Bahati, Azam FC’s assistant coach, noted the team have also not given up on winning the Vodacom Premier League title.<\/p>\n

Azam FC, currently under tutelage of head coach, George Lwandamina, started the season impressively under Romanian Arstica Cioaba.<\/p>\n

Their momentum was thereafter slowed down by Mtibwa Sugar, as the latter won 1-0 against the Dar es salaam squad, leading to Cioaba’s sacking.<\/p>\n

They are placed third place with 44 points having played a total of 24 matches.<\/p>\n
