AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> PRIME Minister (PM) Kassim Majaliwa has thanked local music artistes for composing mourning songs as the country is overwhelmed with grief and great sorrow following the sudden death of President John Magufuli.<\/p>\n

The late Magufuli died on March 17 from heart complications and was laid to rest yesterday in his native Chato home town in Geita region. His funeral ceremony was attended by several top government officials from Mainland and Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

Also in the attendance were musicians, sportsmen and artistes. Speaking in Chato yesterday before welcoming President Samia Suluhu Hassan, PM Majaliwa said that the government sincerely thanks the local artistes for the songs they composed to comfort Tanzanians throughout the mourning period.<\/p>\n

The musicians from different music genres, through the so called \u2018Tanzania All Stars\u2019, composed songs which were aired in various local radio and television stations. There are others who on individual or group basis composed songs that went viral in mourning the fallen president.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have been comforting us with songs, others sang choirs in churches as others played dufu ( islamic songs),\u201d said Majaliwa.<\/p>\n

Dozens of musicians, artistes and sportsmen flocked Chato to attend the funeral of the late Magufuli, who was an ardent sports and entertainment fan.<\/p>\n

Among bongo flava artists who were in attendance in Chato with others sharing their photos in social media platforms were Ally Kiba, Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Nandy, Peter Msechu among others to mention but a few.<\/p>\n

The bongo movie artistes who attended include Rich Mtambalike, alias \u201cRich Rich\u201d and among football personalities was Simba Sports Club\u2019s information officer, Haji Manara.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said that the government sincerely acknowledges how artists showed their support in composing those songs. The PM also thanked Tanzanians for showing up in millions to mourn President Magufuli as they lined up in roads to fare him well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are those who even touched the car carrying up Magufuli body just to show how they were touched by his death,\u201d \u201cAnd the government principally wanted all Tanzanians to have that opportunity of faring him well the reason why it made that arrangement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Catholic Gospel hymnist teacher of Chang\u2019ombe Choir, Chang\u2019ombe Catholic Singer, Aloyce Kipangula has said that he has composed a song in praise of Magufuli.<\/p>\n

He said his debut album titled \u2018Nimekosa Nihurumie\u2019 has six songs, one of which is \u2018Ee Bwana unifadhili mimi\u2019 which is a song that is widely used on the radio and elsewhere during this tragedy of Dr Magufuli.<\/p>\n

Kipangula said Dr Magufuli lived what he believed in and believed everything in God was possible.<\/p>\n

Citing an example during the covid-19 period last year, he said the people were scared but the president calmed them down and asked the people to fast and pray everyone in their faith and God will hear the prayers of the whole nation.<\/p>\n
