AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Thursday pledged to obey and serve President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the people of Tanzania with high level of integrity.<\/p>\n

He also promised to be honest and ensure diligence in his service so that the country can achieve the intended development goals.<\/p>\n

Speaking shortly after the swearing in of the new Chief Secretary, Amb Hussein Kattanga, several Ministers and Deputy Ministers, the Premier expressed gratitude to President Samia for trusting him to remain in the government with regard to the mini cabinet reshuffle made on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of yesterday with the sudden changes you made, I found myself safe, it is such a relief \u2026. Thank you very much for trusting me, I am grateful for this opportunity to serve in your government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWhatever it is, I am ready to receive your instructions and I will implement them as required, I also want to assure you on behalf of my fellow ministers and public servants that we will achieve by 100 per cent all the government goals,\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Majaliwa further reassured Tanzanians that the government exists and that the implementation of all programmes continue as planned.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have great faith in you, President Samia, and we will work tirelessly. You have been emphasizing in your speeches and reassuring Tanzanians that nothing will go wrong and instruct administrative agencies within the government to work hard,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The premier also used the platform to congratulate the Chief Secretary for being appointed to the post, saying he has no doubt on his ability to discharge his duties.<\/p>\n

Mr Majaliwa further assured President Samia that all ministers were ready to receive instructions and continue to serve Tanzanians as directed and continue implementing all the pledges listed in the CCM election manifesto for 2020-2025.<\/p>\n

Premier Majaliwa has served in that capacity since 2015. He was appointed by departed President John Magufuli after the 2015 general election. He is a member of CCM and has been a Member of Parliament for Ruangwa constituency since 2010.<\/p>\n

His appointment was a surprise, even to himself, given the fact that he was a relatively newcomer to electoral politics. His selection was attributed to his humility, honesty and work ethic. His experience in education as a teacher, trade unionist and deputy minister was also expected to be an asset in President Magufuli’s stated desire to reform the sector.<\/p>\n

President Samia on Wednesday sent an early strong message to her aides with the mini cabinet reshuffle, insisting that there will be no room for underperformers.<\/p>\n

The President tweaked the cabinet, bringing in four new faces and relocating nine others, to increase efficiency in her government.<\/p>\n
