Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has applauded joint initiative by the army and Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) for coming up with a new undergraduate course of military science, saying it was ideal for the national army.<\/p>\n

Military science is the study of military processes, institutions, and behaviour, along with the study of warfare, and the theory and application of organised coercive force. It is mainly focused on theory, method, and practice of producing military capability in a manner consistent with national defense policy.<\/p>\n

The president made the statement yesterday after two consecutive events for commissioning of about 386 officers and conferring bachelor degrees to 143 army officers. This is the first batch of the graduates.<\/p>\n

According to the president, coming up with the idea for having such a programme was brilliant.<\/p>\n

The new programme is being taught at the Institute of Accountancy Arusha in collaboration with the Tanzania Military Academy (TMA).<\/p>\n

Before the historic event, it was all bliss, when for the first time since she took over the top office, President Samia occasioned the commissioning of the 386 officers of the army.<\/p>\n

President Samia, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, commissioned the officers at a colourful event held at Chamwino State House in Dodoma.<\/p>\n

There was a lot of oomph when the president entered the place, as members of the security forces played two anthems\u2014Tanzanian and that of the East African Community. She inspected a guard of honour and later stood at the saluting dais.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by top government leaders, including Vice-President Philip Mpango, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, National Assembly Speaker Job Ndugai, and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Venance Mabeyo.<\/p>\n

Others in attendance were ministers, including Finance and Planning Minister Mwigulu Nchemba and Minister for Defence and National Services Dr Elias Kwandikwa.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a ceremony to award bachelor degrees to the officers, Dr Mwigulu expressed commitment that the IAA will continue cooperating with TMA in offering programmes required for army activities.<\/p>\n

Dr Nchemba also counselled the graduates of accountancy course to be ethical when serving the nation at various posts related to the course by avoiding corruption and misuse of funds.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Principal of the IAA, Prof Eliamani Sedokeya said graduated army officers are going to be useful not only for Tanzania but also for the United Nations (UN) of which Tanzania is a Member State.<\/p>\n

Tanzania has been effectively participating in the UN peacekeeping mission in different countries in Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
