Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>HIGH flying Prince Dube has said that he will continue to help Azam FC win their Mainland Premier League matches as they chase for the title this season.<\/p>\n

Azam lastly won their maiden Mainland Premier League title in 2013\/14 season and have since then been struggling for top Premier league honours.<\/p>\n

And the Zimbabwean has of recent been in a good \u2018form\u2019 to score for the former champions, alongside the duo of Simba Sports Club\u2019s players, Meddie Kagere and John Bocco in the current Premier league top scorer list.<\/p>\n

He scored the lone \u2018wonderful\u2019 long range for Azam in their 1-0 win over Young Africans to lead the tally with 12 goals as Kagere and Bocco are following up him with 11 and 10 goals, respectively.<\/p>\n

The Zimbabwean exploits for the \u2018Ice-cream Makers\u2019 have assured their place in the fight for the Premier League title despite trailing Yanga in the top three with 54 points.<\/p>\n

Simba, who were last night expected to play Dodoma Jiji at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium were leading with 58 as Yanga are second with 57 points.<\/p>\n

The win enabled Azam to keep alive their title hopes and also earn revenge against the side, who had beaten them 1-0 in the first round meeting at Chamazi Complex.<\/p>\n

Dube has promised to continue his scoring prowess whenever he gets chances to do so, adding that the team spirit will be key to victory. \u201cIt is a great feeling to score but it was not only me, it\u2019s because of the team work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

And this is the reason why he decided to dedicate the goal against Yanga to the entire team. I am more focused to help the team win more games,\u201d Dube said as quoted by \u2018Daily News\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me thank Azam fans for supporting me since day one I arrived here such that even if I do not score, they are always behind me. I will continue to do my best for the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

The win also slowed down Yanga\u2019s pursuit for the title as they dropped to second position on the 18-team table with Simba taking charge while Azam remain third.<\/p>\n

In an earlier interview, Azam captain Aggrey Morris maintained the win against Yanga was a confidence booster for his team to continue fighting for the title.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not yet over, we have six matches remaining on our side and anything is possible,\u201d Morris was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us, the main job is to win all the six matches and at the end, we will know what we have achieved. But nothing has changed, we are pushing for the title. \u201cIt is usual for teams to have inconsistencies in football and we are not an exception. However, after winning the match against Yanga we have received a confidence boost which will impact us positively in the remaining matches.\u201d<\/p>\n

Azam will next face KMC FC in the league but they will now take a short break for the Premier league, returning their focus on their Thursday\u2019s Azam Sports Federation Cup ( ASFC) best 16 match against Polisi Tanzania at their home Chamazi Complex .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
