Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PERMANENT Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Dr Zainab Chaula has asked councils in the country to fast-track post code registration exercise. Making the revelation while overseeing the exercise in Mwanza recently, she further said it will encourage investments in the country, hence, requires great attention.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the PS launched a two-day workshop in the city to build the capacity of local government leaders implementing it, adding it will assist in smooth services provision to the investors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is through the National Addressing and Postcode Mobile Application (NAPA) project that all areas in the country will be identified,\u201d Dr Chaula pointed out.<\/p>\n

Elaborating, she said details concerning land and residence areas of the investors will be drafted in a special database in the Ministry, where every person served will be reached in what is called \u201cProgramme Tumizi\u201d mobile application.<\/p>\n

Like any mobile application, an investor will download the \u2018Programme Tumizi\u2019 application by clicking *152*00# and following the instructions to access more details. The PS further said all public authorities will be connected to the \u2018Programme Tumizi\u2019 database to let people have enough information and services from any departments, at any time.<\/p>\n

Dr Chaula noted the move will also promote online businesses especially among the traders and clients to know where to meet for services.<\/p>\n

Commenting, Mwanza Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Wilson Sichalwe said the new system has a lot of benefits to the health sector, citing some as fighting maternally related complications and deaths. He further said: \u201cThe goal will be achieved especially by availing emergency medical services to the needy, for instance, an expectant mother, who experiences labour pain at night will get instant service. \u201cA person in distress, victim or any other family member will communicate with the relevant office by mentioning only a house number \u2026.other details will be available on Programme Tumizi.\u201d<\/p>\n

On his part, Mwanza City Council Town Planner, Mr Moses Seleki said about 485,211 residents in the Council are set to benefit from the NAPA project, though only 117,250 people have already covered.<\/p>\n

He said some 50m\/- has been set aside in this fiscal year budget to support the project and see into it that all residents are covered by June, this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
