Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>District executive directors whose councils can afford employing pharmacists and medical technicians have given a green light as the country plans to address the shortage of 10,467 staff in the next financial year.<\/p>\n

This was said by the Deputy Minister of State in the President\u2019s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Dr Festo Ndugange in the Parliament in Dodoma Friday when responding to a question from Bukene lawmaker, Selemani Zedi.<\/p>\n

Reacting to a supplementary question from the MP who sought to know reasons for denying District Medical Officer (DMOs) permission to recruit the experts in internship or short term contracts conditions, the Deputy Minister said \u201cthey are allowed.\u201d<\/p>\n

He reminded the councils capable of solving such challenges to do so as he insisted: \u201cCouncils with enough budgetary capabilities have been allowed to recruit these experts in short term contracts and make close supervision on their performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the next FY, a total of 10,467 staff are expected to be recruited in various councils as a step towards addressing the shortage of experts including pharmacists and medicine technicians.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
