This comes after refurbishment of one of the country&#8217;s major airports as the nation gears towards exporting more of its products.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Executive Director of KIA, Ms Christine Mwakatobe said at KIA on Thursday that refurbishment of all areas has made the airport to be able to accommodate all kinds of planes.<\/p>\n<p>As a new normal is felt after Covid-19 pandemic, Ms Mwakatobe said the management of the Kilimanjaro Airports Development Company (KADCO) is in full force to serve businesspersons in export business.<\/p>\n<p>The airport has seen an in-crease in exports, such as horticultural goods after the subsector was strengthened in the past few months.<\/p>\n<p>There are now cargo planes as the government prepares to procure its own Ms Mwakatobe said that the airport has now started receiving many tourists after the lifting of lockdown, adding that they expect to receive about 2,000 Israelis in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKIA is now in excellent condition, ready to handle everything that comes, be it in export of goods that are increasing or in receiving tourists whose number is increasing day after day,\u201d said Ms Mwakatobe.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that they have received health guidelines from the ministry responsible for health and are implementing them. There are also guidelines from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Mwakatobe was speaking during a tour of the Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, Mr Mwita Waitara. The deputy minister called on KADCO management to ensure it offers full cooperation to businesspersons who will use the airport for exports.<\/p>\n<p>He said that it is vital to facilitate them because it is in the government\u2019s target to elevate them and see more investment in the country to improve the economy.<\/p>\n<p>After his tour to different areas of the airport as the newly appointed deputy minister, Mr Waitara said he noted many opportunities and asked KADCO and other stakeholders to tap them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe airport (KIA) is in good condition, ready for receiving clients in export and tourism among other businesses.
