Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday appointed seven Justices of the Court of Appeal and 21 new Judges of the High Court, as the government seeks to improve operations and efficiency of the Judiciary.<\/p>\n

According to a statement released by State House\u2019s Director of Presidential Communication Gerson Msigwa, the Head of State also extended for two more years the term of office of Appeals Court Justice Sivangilwa Mwangesi, who is currently serving as Ethics Secretariat commissioner.<\/p>\n

The new appointees to the Appellate Court, the highest temple of justice in Tanzania, are Ms Patricia Fikirini, who was Judge in Charge of the High Court\u2019s Commercial Division and Mr Penterine Kente, who served as Judge in Charge of the High Court, Iringa Zone.<\/p>\n

In the same boat are Dr Paul Faustine Kihwelo, who was Principal of the Institute of Judicial Administration (IJA) Lushoto in Tanga Region, Ms Lucia Gamuya Kairo, who before the appointment was Judge in Charge of the High Court, Bukoba Zone.<\/p>\n

The rest are Ms Lilian Mashaka, who was Judge in Charge of the High Court\u2019s Corruption and Economic Crime Division in Dar es Salaam, Mr Issa Maige, who was the Judge in Charge of High Court\u2019s Land Division (Dar es Salaam) and Mr Abraham Mwampashia, who was Zanzibar High Court Judge.<\/p>\n

The statement named the newly appointed judges of the High Court of Tanzania with their previous posts in the brackets as Ms Katarina Revocati (Njombe Regional Administrative Secretary) and Mr Biswalo Mganga (Director of Public Prosecutions).<\/p>\n

Others are Ms Zahra Maruma (Deputy Registrar of Court of Appeal also Head of Judiciary Delivery Unit (JDU) and Ms Devotha Kamuzora (Deputy Registrar of Tax Revenue Appeals Tribunal, Dar es Salaam).<\/p>\n

The rest include Mr Chaba John (Deputy Registrar in Charge of High Court, Main Registry in Dar es Salaam), Ms Lilian Itemba (Senior State Attorney in the National Prosecutions Office) and Mr Awamu Mbagwa (Senior State Attorney from the same office in Dodoma).<\/p>\n

Others are Mr Ayoub Mwenda (Deputy Director in the National Prosecutions Office), Ms Nyigulile Mwaseba (Deputy Registrar of High Court, Dar es Salaam) and Mr John Nkwabia (Deputy Registrar of the High Court at Arusha).<\/p>\n

The statement named other appointees as Ms Safina Simfukwe (Deputy Registrar of High Court\u2019s Land Division) and Mr David Nguyale (Deputy Registrar of Corruption and Economic Crime Division of the High Court).<\/p>\n

Others are Mr Frank Mahimbali (Deputy Registrar in Charge of High Court at Mwanza), Mr James Karayemaha (Deputy Registrar of the High Court, Mwanza Zone) and Mr Emmanuel Ngigwana (Deputy Registrar of Tax Revenue Appeals Tribunal).<\/p>\n

Others include Mr Abdi Kagomba (Legal Services Manager with Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency) and Ms Arafa Msafiri (Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Constitution and Legal, Office of the President at State House).<\/p>\n

Also on the list are Dr Ubena John (Lecturer and Dean of Faculty of Law, Mzumbe University), Dr Eliamani Laltaika (Lecturer at Tumaini University), Dr Theodora Mwenegoha (Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam) and Mr Mwanabaraka Mnyukwa (Lecturer at IJA).<\/p>\n

Mr Msigwa explained in the statement that the appointment of Ms Fikirini was with effect from May 5, 2021, while that of other justices of the appeal court and judges of the High Court commenced yesterday.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the extension of office by Justice Sivangilwa was with effect from February 15, 2021. The new appointees will be sworn in on a date to be announced later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
