Africa-Press<\/a> – Tanzania<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE Universal Communications Services Access Fund (UCSAF) has called upon community radio, cable television and television stations to use the opportunities availed by the fund for improved reception and sensitivity for communication for all.<\/p>\n

The call was given yesterday by UCSAF\u2019s Eng. Richard Sotery during a oneday stakeholders meeting for communication access for all stakeholders in central zone.<\/p>\n

He said the opportunities were available to improve sensitivity so that communities could enjoy uninterrupted communication.<\/p>\n

He said UCSAF was keen to improve community radio and cable television stations accessibility, which can only be done by having the best infrastructures whereas the reception can be accessible to all, regardless of their geographical locations.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity radios and cable televisions should go for support from UCSAF, we need to see all Tanzanians accessing communication,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Eng. Sotery said there was still some challenges on communication in various parts of the country and, that the situation calls for immediate solution from both private sector and the government at large.<\/p>\n

On his side, Engineer Shirikisho Mpunji stakeholders must take an advantage of cooperating with UCSAF so that altogether could bring changes in the country.<\/p>\n

He said a number of initiatives had been taken to ensure that communication as a universal right was accessible to its entire population as the Fund, among others, was established to facilitate access to communication services.<\/p>\n

UCSAF has a number of objectives such as to ensure the availability of communication services in rural and urban under-served areas, promote the participation of public and private sector in the provision of universal service in the rural and urban underserved areas as well as promote the socio-economic development of rural and urban underserved areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to ensure availability of universal services by enhancing communications services access through private sector participation\u201d he insisted Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) Central Zone Legal Officer, Mr Joseph Kavishe advised the stakeholders, owners and operators to be guided by the rules, laws and regulations governing the content aired.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
